It is superior to other colanders.

It is superior to most colanders because it has slats up the sides and allows water to come in-and-out. Most colanders only have some holes and they're not as sturdy. This replaces one that I was grieving over. It is great.

Extra Large Kitchen Strainer

This is a large strainer as you can strain an entire box of cooked pasta in it and was just what I was looking for. When it is filled up and about to drain, the handle where it meets the strainer bowl can bend when I shake the pasta in it. I had another one similar to this and it lasted about 10 years. When the handle began to crack at the bowl joint I threw it out and bought this one. This one seems stronger but then again it depends how often you use it all filled up. It does fit in the top rack of the dishwasher and cleans well. Also, sometimes thin spaghetti will slip through the openings so I keep the pot under it when I am draining.
